America’s Next Top Librarian!

October 17, 2006

images_2.jpg This week is Teen Read Week. So read, teens, read. In honor of the occasion, Bookburger is running the search for America’s Next Top Librarian!  Many library divas are drenched with fabulosity, helpfulness, intelligence, and coolness. Only a few are shush-monsters in moth-nibbled cardigans. Is there someone at your school or local library who deserves a moment in the spotlight?  Send us an email explaining why he or she is the “IT” librarian, in 100 words or less.  Entries will be acccepted through November 15. If your entry wins, you’ll get a $50 Amazon gift certificate–and so will your librarian! (U.S. residents only, please.)

Extreme YA Loft Makeover

October 11, 2006

If you could make the YA Loft look like anything, what would you do?  A sports heaven with football posters and big screen tvs?  A lab with tons of Internet computers?  A chic lounge with cushy chairs and booths?

Well, guess what… the YA Loft is being made over, and we want teen input to help us plan the new Loft.  That’s right, you can tell us what you’d like to see and how you’d like to see it.  Over on the left side of the page are photos of what other places have done with their spaces.

Tell us what you think at a meeting on Thursday, October 12 from 5:00 – 6:00 pm in the 3rd Floor Meeting Room, or stay tuned for an online survey where you can give your thoughts.

Take this reading survey

October 6, 2006

Smartgirl.org asks teens–yes you!– to take this survey about reading for Teen Read Week, which is coming up October 16-22.

Research shows librarians are the best…

October 6, 2006

Well, at searching for information, anyway.

”Most reliable search tool could be your librarian“  by ElinoLibrarianr Mills

Web search engines may hustle up quick results, but librarians dig up online information you can trust, say experts.

This YA Web site rocks!

September 22, 2006

Since I know that our current YA web site is *ahem* not quite what it could be, I was amazed to see this incredible site aimed at teens from a different library.
