Printz Award: Best Books for Young Adults

The Michael L. Printz Award for excellence in literature written for young adults was announced on Monday:

“American Born Chinese” by Gene Luen Yang is the 2007 Printz Award winner. [A graphic novel!]
Four Printz Honor Books were named
“The Astonishing Life of Octavian Nothing: The Pox Party” by M. T. Anderson
“An Abundance of Katherines” by John Green
“Surrender” by Sonya Hartnett
“The Book Thief” by Markus Zusak

Lois Lowry won the Margaret A. Edwards Award for lifetime achievement in writing for young adults

It’s official!  Teens all over the nation have voted for their favorite books during Teen Read Week, and the winners are:

MT Anderson wins the National Book Award

And the winner is….   MT Anderson, author of books like Feed, Thirsty, and Burger Wuss has won the National Book Award (a big deal for literary types) for his book The Astonishing Life of Octavian Nothing, Traitor to the Nation, Vol. I

You can get this book from the High School Collection at the Park Ridge Public Library… just ask at the Reader Services or YA Loft desk.
